Dario Fegatelli

Biografy

I am a former athletics athlete (middle-distance / cross-country specialty). From 1992 to 2000 I was an athlete of the Carabinieri Sports Center. I wore the jersey of the Italian university national team (cross and 5000m on the track), military (cross), under 21 (5000 m on the track) and absolute (cross and 1/2 marathon).

In 1996 I was Team World Champion of 1/2 Marathon (together with Baldini, Leone, Modica and Gamba) in Palma de Mallorca (18th place individually).

The passion for sport and the psychological aspects functional to the achievement of excellent sports performance, guided my academic training.

I graduated in 2007 Master’s Degree with honors in “Training, Communication and Innovation in Social and Organizational Contexts” at the University “La Sapienza” of Rome with a thesis on Doping in amateur and youth contexts.

I continued my studies specializing in the field of sports psychology obtaining the title of II level university Master in sports psychology at the University of Rome “Foro Italico” and attending the Intensive Course of the “European Master’s Studies in Sport and Exercise Psychology” at the Vrije University of Amsterdam. Currently, I am in the last year of the School of Specialization in Psychological Evaluation and Counselling   of the University “La Sapienza” of Rome.

Since 2008 I have been a registered psychologist and since 2009, first in the Forestry Sports Group and currently at the Carabinieri Sports Center) I work as a sports psychologist / mental trainer with athletes and technicians of different Olympic sports disciplines for the improvement and implementation of high-level sports performance.

In the same period I collaborate as a sports psychologist with some sports federations such as the Italian Modern Pentathlon Federation (FIPM), the Italian Triathlon Federation (FITRI), the Italian Boxing Federation (FPI); I am a member of the team of psychologists present at the Sports Psychology Service of the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology of the University “La Sapienza” of Rome.

In the three-year period 2014/2015/2016 I personally follow the mental preparation of the athletes of the men’s and women’s national team of modern pentathlon being part of the technical health team present at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016.

My main interests refer to the study of the psychological mechanisms underlying sports performance and to the support work with athletes, technicians and sports teams through training, group work and individual paths with the aim of increasing the possibility of providing excellent sports performance in a competitive context.
