Guido Alessandri

Biografia

Guido Alessandri is a Full Professor of Work and Organizational Psychology. He is the Dean’s Delegate for Placement and the President of the Master’s Degree Program in Human Resources, Work, and Organizational Psychology. He is also the elected Italian Representative in the European Network of Organizational Psychologists.

His research interests focus on studying personality in the workplace, with particular emphasis on personal determinants of work performance. His studies analyze performance development throughout a career, aiming to identify the main predictors.

Currently, his research program focuses on identifying how individuals’ psychological resources (positive orientation, psychological social capital, etc.) translate into adaptive behaviors within organizations. Another dominant theme in his research is the constant interest in developing and applying innovative research methodologies, such as recent applications of multilevel models.

He generally utilizes longitudinal data, multi-informant assessments, and psychophysiological indicators (heart rate variability, cortisol, etc.) or neurocognitive indicators of individuals’ behavior within work contexts.

He has organized workshops and methodological schools related to statistical data analysis in applied psychology. Currently, his main research area concerns the in vivo measurement of performance behavior and its relationship with personality traits, changes in psychophysiological states, and emotional dynamics connected to the activity performed.
