Biografy
Arnaldo Zelli is Full Professor of General Psychology (M-PSI/01) since 2006 at the University of Rome “Foro Italico”.
Graduated in Psychology with honors in 1984 at the Sapienza- University of Rome, he obtained, at the University of Chicago (USA), the PhD in Psychology of Personality in 1992. He has carried out research in the United States, at the University of Chicago (Illinois, 1992-1996), Vanderbilt University (Tennessee, 1996-1998) and at Duke University (North Carolina, 1999-2001).
Director of the Department of “Motor, Human and Health Sciences” of the University “Foro Italico” from 2015 to 2021. President of the Evaluation Unit of the same University from 2008 to 2015, a position that starting from September 2021 he will hold again for a three-year term and until 2024. His teaching activity at the University is mainly aimed at students of the three-year degree in “Motor and Sports Sciences”, students of the master’s degree in “Sport Management” and PhD students of the PhD Course in “Sciences of Human Movement and Sport”.
In the field of sport, his interests focus on the study of the determinants underlying the use of legal and illegal substances for the improvement of performance and health (i.e. Doping). In addition, over the years he has dealt with unsportsmanlike behaviors, gender stereotypes and sports, processes of socialization of motivational processes in sport. In the field of the study of personality, on the other hand, research interests focus on the analysis of socio-cognitive mechanisms and development and functioning of the personality; knowledge and mechanisms that regulate aggression and problematic behaviors; mental processes and social behaviors; socio models on socio-cognitive processes that link maltreatment with aggression
He is (co)author of over one hundred contributions in international and national scientific journals, and for national and international conferences. In addition, he has been responsible for the Foro Italico of several projects funded both by national (p.r. Ministry of Health) and international (e.g. EU, IOC, WADA) bodies on the theme of doping with particular reference to the development and promotion of anti-doping educational paths.
