Andrea Chirico

Biografy

Andrea Chirico is a RTDB researcher in the disciplinary sector PSI/03 at the Department of Psychology of Developmental and Socialization Processes of the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology, Sapienza University of Rome.  In the field of sports psychology, he found particular interest in the use of given analytical methods in sports contexts for what concerns the promotion of the activity itself, evaluating some determinants in integrated theoretical models. In the field of doping he took part in numerous projects related to the validation of psychometric tests and the analysis of models for the intention to use doping substances. He was also “investigator” of two European projects entitled “FAIR+” and “IRUNCLEAN”. The main topic of interest refers to the application of data analysis methodologies and the validation of measuring instruments in oncological contexts. Specifically, it analyzed the role of perceived self-efficacy in relation to well-being in oncological contexts through the validation of tests aimed at measuring the perception of body image in tumors that provide specific alterations, the decision-making conflict during the treatment path and the self-efficacy in dealing with the oncological pathway.  Also in the field of psycho-oncology, the use of new technologies (i.e. Virtual Reality) aimed at reducing anxiety during the patient’s chemotherapy process was of particular interest.
